The counties, and what drives pest pressure in each
Essex County
About 901,500 residents, the largest in our footprint. Newark and East Orange carry dense pre-war multi-family stock and converted two- and three-family houses, with older sewer laterals underneath. That combination — shared walls, shared voids, ageing drainage — is what makes roach and rodent pressure a building problem here rather than a unit problem.
Hudson County
About 739,000 residents, and the largest Hispanic population of any New Jersey county at roughly 41 per cent. Jersey City, Union City and Bayonne are dense, largely multi-family and waterfront-adjacent. Waterfront and port proximity is a genuine rodent driver, not a talking point.
Union County
About 605,000 residents, roughly 35 per cent Hispanic. Elizabeth sits beside the port complex, which puts sustained rodent pressure on the surrounding housing and the restaurant corridor. Linden and Plainfield add older single-family stock with different problems again.
Passaic County
About 532,000 residents and, at roughly 44 per cent, the highest Hispanic concentration in New Jersey. Paterson's older multi-family housing and its restaurant density are the two things that actually generate the calls we get from this county.
Middlesex County
About 885,000 residents, the second largest county in the state. New Brunswick's student rental stock turns over every year, which is the classic route for bed bugs to move between buildings. Woodbridge and Edison add warehouse and distribution facilities with their own rodent and stored-product problems.
Somerset County
About 358,000 residents, the smallest in the footprint and the one we work from. North Plainfield is the registered address of the business. Mostly single-family and small multi-family stock, with the seasonal pattern — ants in spring, mice in autumn — that suburban housing runs on.
Why there is no list of four hundred towns on this page
Because a list like that is not information. The two national chains both run one: a county page that links to towns nowhere near the county, generated once and never read by anyone who works there.
We publish a town page when we have actually worked in that town and can say something specific about it — the neighbourhoods, the housing stock, why the pests are the pests there, and a real job we did. Until that is true, the town does not get a page. That rule costs us pages and it is the reason the pages we do have are worth reading.
